Letter hunt
Teaching game
Learning goal
Practice visually recognizing the first letter of one's own name — a key skill in preschool and early first grade.
How it works
- The student's own initial is shown large at the center of the page, as the model letter.
- Around it, about twenty circles each contain one uppercase letter.
- A configurable number of circles (5 by default) repeat the model letter; the rest show different, randomly drawn letters.
- The student finds every circle that contains the same letter as the model.
Customizable
- Number of circles containing the target letter
- Whether accents are kept
- Color of the model letter
- Whether the student's name appears as a signature at the bottom of the page
